Sami Al Haj, Patron
Sami Al Haj was Prisoner 345 in Guantánamo Bay. He was an Al Jazeera cameraman who was sent to Afghanistan after 9/11. He was mistaken by the US for another journalist who had interviewed Usama Bin Laden, earning him seven years of detention without trial.
125 of his 130 US interrogations were focused not on him, but on trying to get him to say that Al Jazeera was affiliated with al Qaida. When Clive secured his release, Sami went back to work with Al Jazeera, and has since established and run the liberties and human rights bureau.
